Douglas E. Richards is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of WIRED and numerous other novels (see list below). A former biotech executive, Richards earned a BS in microbiology from the Ohio State University, a master's degree in genetic engineering from the University of Wisconsin (where he engineered mutant viruses now named after him), and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

In recognition of his work, Richards was selected to be a "special guest" at San Diego Comic-Con International, along with such icons as Stan Lee and Ray Bradbury. Amazing! I would give this book more than five stars, if I could!

There was nothing I didn't like about this book. It was truly amazing. Intriguing, engaging, and very entertaining, Mind's Eye captured my attention totally and completely in a way that is true testament to the talent--the gift--that this author possesses. It's one of those books that you don't want to put down, no matter what. Dinner? What's that? Giving the kids a bath? Do they really need one? I found myself literally holding my breath several times as Mr. Richards catapulted me from one scene to the next in a truly fascinating ride.

Nick, the main character, very quickly gained my allegiance and my heart. He was the perfect combination of bravery and senstivity. After waking up in a dumpster, hurt, confused, and even doubting his own sanity at times, he managed to keep ahold of his integrity while fighting for his own life, in a situation completely out of his control and not of his own making. A truly good man, he is forced to make choices that no one should have to make, as he struggles to survive, and prevent the unspeakable.

The secondary characters were just as well-written. They are likable and relatable--or despicable, depending on whom you are referring to.

The subject matter is one that, to me personally, is very scary, but with technology the way it is today, also believable. Perhaps that is why it is so frightening....

Some of my favorite authors are John Grisham, Dean Koontz, and Nicholas Sparks, and I can honestly say that I enjoyed this book just as much as I have some of my favorites by the above-mentioned.

Honestly, I would give this book more than five stars, if I could. Douglas E. Richards' books will definitely be on my to-read list from now on.

A clear and thoughtful action packed thriller!

I've been reading Mr Richards' work for several years, and I really think this is his best book ever. The subject matter is right on the edge of what's happening now in the computer labs of the world, mind-directed web surfing. Doug digs deeper than just techno-thriller, though. His characters explorations of the ethical, political, and emotional ramifications of the new technologies are deep and insightful. There's action, romance, mystery, heroes, villains, and lots of really interesting people in this book.

I rate it five stars, and I think he's got another NY Times best seller on his hands.

Nick Wakes up in a Dumpster, Things go Downhill From There

Hey folks! Here is a new best selling author that you may not have even heard of yet. I discovered Douglas E. Richards several months ago and have become a raging fan! Richards rates up there with my other favorite authors like Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child, Jack DuBrul, Isaac Asimov, and Clive Cussler!

About Mind's Eye -

Remind me to never play chess with Richard's as he would most likely beat me like a blanket hung out to dry. This book is one cool chess move after another, with some really inventive moves thrown in! I never could see the end game, and that kept me turning every page as fast as possible.

I should have kept track of the body count at least. But let's just say it's over 27. But more impressive are the escapes from bodily harm! The main character, Hall, can read minds and think fast. It was truly amazing how Richards introduces Hall's amazing talents. From waking up in a dumpster with amnesia, to finding a safe house in a ritzy neighborhood (for free), Hall has some roller coaster moments that would have freaked anyone right the hell out!

I did manage to figure out some of the plot twists, but I must have done it telepathically, because otherwise, I am not usually that clever. Richards has a way of dropping clues that help, not hinder the reader.

If you are looking for a great beach read or even just a good, fast, fun book, then this is it! Buy it today and you'll be hooked on the first page, maybe even the first paragraph!
